Senhora da Rosa, Tradition & Nature Hotel

I will start off by saying that the property is gorgeous and the staff are absolutely wonderful and all speak English. Our group’s flight arrived at 6am and the hotel had our rooms ready for us. I was put in a main floor suite for the disabled which was very spacious. The shower was massive and the room was beautifully furnished. The view wasn’t that great but I hardly was in the room all day so I didn’t care. The internet reception was not great but the staff tried their best to rectify the situation by giving me my own modem to a different network. All the bath products were in bar form but were very tiny. There was a shampoo bar but not conditioner. Bring your own products if this is an issue for me. I have curly hair so it was. The staff will replenish only if you ask them. The food was average. The breakfast buffet was okay with not a lot of variety but remember this is not a big island. I tried the scrambled eggs and it tasted like it had been cooked in fish oil. I never had an omelette made for me so I can’t comment on that. The breads were fresh and heavenly! The American core wasn’t very good but if you ask them for an espresso they will bring you one and the espresso is divine. The portion sizes at dinner were tiny. Every night. I understand it is a fine dining restaurant but it’s the only restaurant in the hotel so I think they should really consider making the portions bigger. I’ve travelled all over Europe and never been hungry after a meal. The infinity pool was lovely and was salt water. I never went into the hot tub but it was beautiful. All in all I really liked the place but the food portions issue could be problematic for someone with a healthy appetite.

A fantastic, comfortable and stylish hotel with a friendly atmosphere. We found the staff to be very professional and friendly which made for a really lovely experience. The spa is great - I had a really relaxing massage and would highly recommend Micaela.

First arriving, recognized parking is an issue. Be aware sometimes you have to park around the block . At times gate wouldn’t open and we had to circle back and ask for help to open ( evening time ) frustrating after long day . Room are simple , but bedding is comfortable . Very minimal lighting in room and bathroom . Dim is brightest your room will get. Walls are thin, as we were lucky enough to have 2 children in room next to ours and heard the crying and bickering throughout night. One night even awaking us, the poor child crying on and on. Not relaxing. Food was good. Ate dinner and breakfast here and would recommend . All in all, decent hotel … good location, will try elsewhere next visit because I feel it was overpriced for what I personally experienced .

Everything was so lovely!! The hotel was on a beautiful property with lots of great amenities and plenty of parking!! The pádel court was such an added bonus and the whole thing felt like a secluded little paradise. The only thing I would point out is that there is no conditioner so maybe bring your own. I stayed at Senhora for a week over my 30th birthday and absolutely loved it! The hotel is stunning, from the bar areas to the bedrooms to the spa. Most evenings we were given a small sweet treat or a candle with a note as a goodnight gesture, which was a beautiful touch! The reception staff were able to answer all of my questions and give advice on beach front restaurants, best beaches and places to park. The breakfast is very good and I love the option of ordering your eggs fresh instead of buffet style. We didn’t eat at Magma Restaurant however, ate at the rooftop restaurant, which was amazing and great service. The location is perfect as most people on the island have hired a car for transport. It’s about 8 minutes from Ponta Delgada and close to all the main roads to get around the island. You can also see the sea from the rooftop bar.

The hotel has a very friendly "boutique" feel. The minute you enter the gate, you feel the ambiance. The building appears to be recently remodeled. The rooms are modern style with glass doors in the bathroom, shower, and toilet. A great bed and plenty of outlets for electronics. Our room had an outside balcony facing a pool and flower garden for our "cocktail hour". The staff are all very friendly and helpful, providing advice on sites to see as well as good restaurants. They have a playroom for kids (which we haven't needed in years), and a spa which we didn't have time to try. They serve a nice breakfast spread but you have to ask for an omelet prepared as you like it. We had a very pleasant stay.
